A Successful First Step for Africa–Europe Academic Cooperation
The CIDRA Conference, held on 15–16 April 2026 at the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, marked an important milestone for the initiative and for academic cooperation between Africa and Europe. Bringing together scholars, researchers, students, policymakers, diplomatic representatives, and practitioners, the conference created a vibrant space for exchange, reflection, and future collaboration.
Conference Focus
Participants explored some of the most urgent issues shaping today’s world, including regional integration, governance, migration, sustainable development, digital transformation, energy security, and the future of multilateralism.
Key Outcomes
The conference confirmed the importance of stronger partnerships between African and European institutions and highlighted the value of joint research in addressing shared global challenges.

A Strong Academic Network
The participation of thirteen partner universities from Africa and Europe demonstrated the growing strength of the CIDRA consortium and its commitment to producing meaningful academic and policy impact through collaboration.
Looking Forward
The success of the conference in Dar es Salaam laid a strong foundation for the future of CIDRA. With the next conference to be hosted by Addis Ababa University, the initiative continues to grow as a bridge for dialogue, research, and shared progress between the two continents.
