On August 25–26, 2025, CIDRA researchers, participated in to the 2nd African Humanities Conference, held at the University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM). Centered on the theme “Reimagining African Humanities in the Digital Age,” the conference explored how digital technologies are transforming humanities research across the continent.
The event, jointly organized by the Science for Africa Foundation and UDSM’s College of Humanities, brought together leading scholars and practitioners to reflect on pressing challenges in African humanities. Discussions emphasized the value of evidence-based, interdisciplinary research in advancing sustainable development.
The CIDRA researchers presented a paper on the digitization of the Hans Cory Collection, one of CIDRA’s initiatives at the UDSM Library. This collection, renowned for its rich interdisciplinary content, would serve as a critical resource for cross-disciplinary research and strongly resonates with digital humanities conference theme and CIDRA’s mission to enhance education and foster multilayered cultural identity through digital scholarship.
In addition to showcasing their research, the team introduced the CIDRA Project to the wider academic community and announced the upcoming CIDRA Academic Conference, scheduled for April 2026. They also distributed brochures with the call for papers and warmly invited researchers to contribute and participate in the forthcoming event.
